India's coat of arms draws upon the capital of one of Ashoka's pillars. Lions look in the four cardinal directions and the animals around the base represent both the four directions as well as the stages in Buddha's enlightenment.
Motto (Sanskrit): Satyameva Jayate ["Truth Alone Triumphs"].
